Manta Ray night dive on Big Island,Hawaii.I made tree night dives with Manta Rays to shoot this short video. Each dive last about 45 minutes. There are two different location to spat Manta Ray on Big Island.First, better suited for scuba divers is Kona airport because of rocky bottom, second Sheraton Hotel is better for snorkeling. Both location are great. The mysterious manta ray is one of the largest fishes in the ocean and they feed on microscopic plankton. At night, spotlights are used to attract mantas that feed off the plankton illuminated by the light. To see the video click HERE or the picture bellow.
Kahalu’u is very popular snorkeling spot on Big Island. There’s ton of friendly fish that are so used to tourists that it makes a great place for video recording. This video was recorded with GoPro Hero 3 with 2.7k resolution. The water is shallow so you feel more as if you were swimming in an aquarium than in the ocean. Because the water is not deep. it allows the light to penetrate to the bottom. The cove is surrounded by large partly submerged rock wall that makes the water calm and easy to snorkel in. While snorkeling I saw different kind of fish including box fish, cardinal fish, needle fish, surgeon fish and eel among many others. Click here or below on the picture to check out the video:
A year ago we met Warren Harnden on Awa Awapuhi trail in Kauai. We talked about our hobbies, which also includes skiing. He lives in Nevada and he told us about Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in the Sierras. He also wrote:
‘Keep up the adventuring, It is a great life. Most of my opportunities are rapidly fading. But the Sierra always calls. It is not a misnomer to call the Sierra, “The Range of Light” ‘.
At the end of last year we got a chance to go to California and we reminiscent on that encounter. So the decision was made and we were hoping for a lot of snow.
And we weren’t disappointed. We had truly White Christmas in California.

I would like to share with you a video from a great dive off the shores of Santa Catalina Island. The island, often called just Catalina, is located off the coast of California. You will not find coral reefs here, but beautiful green scenery, very dramatic and mysterious. Watching the video gives you a feeling as if you were in a lush garden sunk underwater. When we got to Zion National Park one thing we knew is that we wanted to hike the Subway. We didn’t have anything planned but we were lucky right from the start. We got our permits early morning and drove to the Lower Trailhead. We got our gear and we decided to hitchhike to the Wildcat Trailhead. In less than a minute a truck stopped and a middle-aged man offered us a lift. He was from Nevada and he was heading to his cottage near Kolob Reservoir. Our luck gave us an early head start. We didn’t see anybody for the first two miles but then, as we continued though the pools, we met few groups of people. We actually were surprised by the number of people we saw. We enjoyed the hike greatly however the last part of the hike (below the last rappelling) seemed never ending.
